VTP COURSES
These courses conducted under Directorate General of Employment & Training, Ministry of Labour and employment, Govt. of India. The skill level of the work force determines the productivity as well as the ability to adapt the changing environment. A majority of Indian work force does not possess required skills which is an obstacles in getting an employment and improving their economic conditions. The minimum qualifications and long duration of the courses are some of the impediments for a person to acquire skills for the livelihood. Also, the largest share of new jobs in India is likely to come from the unorganized sector. Global college of engineering is competent to test and polish such skills of an individual and help them to get a qualification from a competent authority. Based on this strategy, global college of engineering has identified some courses considering the requirements of Malabar Area. The courses will be conducted free of cost as per the norms laid down by the Govt. of India.
Modular Employable Skills (MES) under Skill Development Initiative Scheme (SDIS)
The objectives of the scheme are:
- To provide vocational training to school leavers, the employed, ITI graduates, etc. to improve their employability in Govt., private institutions and the Industry. Existing skills of the persons can also be tested and certified under this scheme.
- To build capacity in the areas of development of competency standards, course curriculum, learning materials and assessment standards in the country.
- Demand driven short term training courses based on Modular Employable Skills (MES) decided in consultation with Industry. MES is the 'minimum skills set' which is sufficient for gainful employment.
- Central government facilitates and promotes training while industry, private sector and State Governments provide training to the persons.
- Optimum utilization of existing infrastructure to make training cost effective.
- Flexible delivery mechanism (part time, weekends, full time, onsite/ offsite) to suit needs of various target groups.
- Different levels of programmes (Foundation level as well as skill up gradation) to meet demands of various target groups.
- The services of existing or retired faculty or guest faculty are being utilized.
- Courses are available for persons having completed 5th standard.
- Testing & certification of skills acquired informally.
- Testing of skills of trainees by independent assessing bodies, which would not be involved in training delivery, to ensure that it is done impartially.
- The essence of the scheme is in the certification that will be nationally and internationally recognized.
